The History of Korat Orchid Society (KOS) Thailand

ประวัติสมาคมกล้วยไม้โคราช (ประเทศไทย)

เริ่มต้นจาก พลโทเฉลิม อินทร์กนก รวมตัวกับเพื่อนๆ ที่รักและชื่นชอบกล้วยไม้ขอจัดตั้งเป็นชมรมกล้วยไม้โคราชในปี พ.ศ. 2509 โดยมีประธานชมรมกล้วยไม้โคราช
คือ พลโทเฉลิม อินทร์กนก ท่านที่ 2 คือ นายสุรพล เมฆวิชัย และในปี พ.ศ.2512 พลตรีประพนธ์ กุลพิจิตร ผู้เป็นประธานชมรมท่านต่อมา ได้ขอจดทะเบียนเป็นสมาคม
และได้รับการอนุมัติจากกระทรวงศึกษาธิการให้เป็นสมาคมกล้วยไม้โคราชในปี พ.ศ. 2515 โดยมี พลตรีประพนธ์ กุลพิจิตร เป็นนายกสมาคมกล้วยไม้เป็นท่านแรก (พ.ศ.2515–2542)
ท่านที่ 2 คือนายแพทย์บรรพต บูรณสิน (พ.ศ.2543-2551) ท่านที่ 3 คือนายแพทย์นิมิต วัฒนาโรจน์เรือง (พ.ศ.2552-2562)
และ นายกสมาคมท่านต่อมา (พ.ศ.2563-ปัจจุบัน) คือ นายบุญฤทธิ์ เมธีกสิวัฒน์

ปัจจุบันที่สมาคมยังคงดำเนินการเป็นประจำทุกปีคือการจัดประกวดกล้วยไม้อย่างน้อยปีละ 1 ครั้ง นอกจากนี้สมาคมกล้วยไม้โคราช ประเทศไทย สนับสนุนกิจกรรมของชมรมสมาคมกล้วยไม้ต่างๆ ทั่วประเทศ กระทั่งได้รับเกียรติจากมูลนิธิระพี-กัลยา สาคริก ได้มอบเกียรติบัตรด้านประกอบคุณงามความดี เสียสละเพื่อส่วนรวม สร้างสรรค์คุณประโยชน์ต่อสังคม ให้แก่สมาคมกล้วยไม้โคราช (ประเทศไทย) เมื่อวันที่ 4 ธันวาคม 2565

Korat Orchid Society (KOS) Thailand at the commencement was, Korat Orchid Club in Nakhon Ratchasima province (Korat). Lieutenant General Chalerm Inkanok and friends gathered people who loved and liked orchids in order to establish Korat Orchid Club in 1966. The first club president of the Korat Orchid Club was Lt. Gen. Chalerm Inkanok. The second club president was Mr. Surapon Mekwichai. In 1969, Major General Prapon Kunpijit, the third club president had applied to register as an association. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in 1972 as Korat Orchid Society, which Maj. Gen. Prapon Kunpijit was the first association president, (1972-1999). The second association president was Dr. Banphot Buranasin, (2000-2008). The third association president was Dr. Nimit Watanarojrueng, (2009-2019). Mr. Boonyarit Metheekasiwat is the present association president since 2020.

KOS Thailand is still actively organizing orchids contest at least once a year. KOS Thailand cooperates and supports various activities in addition with orther orchid associations throughout the country all year round. KOS Thailand being honored by Rapee-Kalaya Sagarik Foundation, giving a certificate of merit for goodness and sacrifice for common good on December 4, 2022.
